The Sterling Edwards workshop has been postponed to a later date this year. The workshop has been scheduled for August 3rd through the 6th.

Sterling Edwards will be teaching a four day workshop in August 2020 at the First Plymouth Congregational Church, 3501 S. Colorado Boulevard, Englewood, CO.

    Big Brush Watercolors Workshop

Join renowned watercolorist Sterling Edwards in this exciting educational workshop that is designed for those who would like to work looser and be more creative with watercolors. In this workshop you will see a wide variety of landscape, floral, and abstract demonstrations using brushes as large as 2 1/4” wide to block in the subject of the painting. Let’s face it; you can’t get tight with a brush that large. The painting is then completed using mostly 1” and larger brushes. You will also learn how to use stiff bristle brushes with watercolors for beautiful blending, textures, and washes.

Some of the topics that you will see demonstrated and explained include; working from photographs, building a strong composition, saving white paper and introducing rich darks, balancing positive and negative shapes to create depth and drama in your painting, creative color mixing, and so much more.

All of Sterling’s workshops are designed to be fun and inspirational. Come see for yourself why Sterling Edwards is one of the most sought after workshop instructors in the U.S. and abroad. All skill levels are invited to this workshop, but as with any watercolor workshop, previous watercolor and drawing experience is definitely helpful.

RANDY HALE WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP- PAINTING WITH PIZAZZ!

Have you ever wondered why some paintings are “knock-out great” and manage to dazzle…while others don’t? I’ve always thought watercolor is best served in splashy, spontaneous strokes. It yearns to be transparent and luminous. Fluidity ought to be the hallmark of watercolor. Do you allow yourself to paint with abandon? Or are you more concerned about how each brushstroke should be applied? Being confident and bold with the brush is important, but so is letting water do the work. Come discover ways to loosen up, make dynamic strokes, and have fun as we embrace the joy of painting!
We’ll be working with a variety of subjects over three days – from whimsical to abstract – attention will be given to design and composition, how to make informed decisions about color, temperature, and dominance in finding out way toward more powerful painting.

Randy Hale will be teaching a three day workshop in October 2020 at the First Plymouth Congregational Church, 3501 S. Colorado Boulevard, Englewood, CO.

    Date:               October 20th, 21st, & 22nd, 2020

Time:              9:00 am - 4:00 pm daily (the building may be entered at 8.30 a.m. for set up)
