"I’ve developed a style of loose precision, highlighting the fluidity inherent in watercolor alongside an ability to represent the expression and form of whatever subject I’m working to capture. I’ve been deeply influenced by watercolor masters throughout history, and yet I’ve also found a way make the medium completely my own. When collectors are first introduced to my work, they’re often surprised these are watercolor paintings. This is because I use a smooth surfaced, archival paper, and the pigment stays on the surface making it more vibrant than with most traditional papers."
In this demo, Gatline will demonstrate his process for painting on Bristol board, a heavy, multi-ply art paper made by gluing multiple sheets together to create a rigid, sturdy working surface. See you then!
